Welcome to the Langley Community Chorus

Here is the information you’ll need as a chorus member as well as the official definition of a member-in-good-standing.

Rehearsals are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at the Langley Community Music School, 4899 – 207th Street. As a courtesy to other members and to our Music Director, please be punctual as it is important to participate in the warm-up. Please turn off beepers and cell phone ring tones. Please care for your voice by bringing water to drink. Once a month we share refreshments at the break for a nominal charge.

The membership fee twice a year (Sept. and January) is $70.00. $35.00 is non-refundable if a member decides to leave within the first month. No refunds are made after the first month. Fees are due before the start of the 2nd rehearsal of each season, and include the cost of a practice CD which will be given to you upon payment of your membership fee. If paying by cash, please give exact change.

Sheet music will be distributed only after the chorus receives membership fees as well as a $50.00 post-dated music deposit. If the music is returned by the due date, your deposit will not be cashed. All music is the property of the Chorus and is returned at the end of the season.

Please bring a pencil for marking music as the music deposit will be forfeited if ink or highlighters are used.

Purchase / rental of concert dress: MEN are responsible for providing their own tuxes, which are purchased privately for approximately $125.00, white pleated shirt as well as black shoes and socks. However, men’s accessories; vest, tie, pocket square, are borrowed with a one-time refundable deposit of $25.00. Chorus-owned tuxes rent for $25.00 per season (Fall & Spring) plus a one-time refundable deposit of $50.00. When borrowed clothing is returned freshly dry-cleaned/washed and in good repair, deposits will be returned.

WOMEN wear their concert blouse (custom-made for $25.00), with long black skirt or dress pants, black hose/socks and shoes and minimal jewelry.

As a special note, please avoid wearing fragrance when at rehearsals and performances.

A member-in-good-standing participates in concerts and communicates in advance, to their section helper for any rehearsals or to the Music Director for any concerts s/he is unable to attend. Having paid the membership fee and refundable music deposit when due, and having no outstanding debt to the chorus, members-in-good-standing attend sufficient rehearsals to prepare for performances.

While unexpected conflicts are understandable, a member loses good standing when no communication is made to your section helper and / or to the Music Director prior to a missed performance, dress rehearsal or three consecutive rehearsals.

If If you are unable to attend a Chorus performance, please inform both the Music Director and your section helper.

Please feel free to contact (email, phone, in person) the President or any board member, to pass along information, suggestions or concerns.
